Instructions

Prepare The Shrimp

  • Peel, devein, rinse and thoroughly dry shrimp with paper towels. Keep them cool while preparing the marinade.

Make The Marinade

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together garlic, honey, olive oil, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper until well combined.

Marinate The Shrimp

  • Add shrimp to marinade and toss to coat evenly. Refrigerate for 30 minutes or up to 4 hours for deeper flavor.

Prepare The Grill

  • Heat grill to 350°F (medium-high heat). If using a skillet, heat over medium-high heat.

Skewer The Shrimp

  • Thread marinated shrimp onto metal skewers, using two parallel skewers per serving to prevent spinning.

Cook The Shrimp

  • Grill for 3-4 minutes per side, or until shrimp develop golden charred edges and are cooked through. Don't overcook.

Serve Immediately

  • Remove from grill and garnish with sliced green onions. Serve hot over rice or as desired.

Notes

Grilled Is Best
The honey creates a beautiful caramelized coating that keeps the shrimp incredibly moist.
Super Dry Shrimp Is Key
Moisture prevents proper marinating and searing, so take time to pat them completely dry.
Don't Skip The Double Skewer
This was a recommendation from my wonderful mother a while back. This prevents the shrimp from spinning and ensures even cooking on both sides.
Watch The Heat
Honey can burn quickly, so keep an eye on the grill temperature and move shrimp to cooler spots if needed.
